Burst Flexi Hose Floods Ensuite

I recently attended a flooded ensuite where a cold water flexi hose in the vanity had burst. Luckily the damage was limited to cabinets and carpets. The ensuite had an in-situ shower that acted as a drain for the entire room. If you take a look at your existing flexi hoses, any bulging or corrosion are a warning sign to have them immediately changed. Flexi hoses are common now days and are found in most mixer taps and toilet cisterns.

One product currently on the market that will limit the damage should one of these hoses burst is called a "flood stop". The valve automatically shuts the water off should one of the hoses burst. They are fitted to the hot/cold water outlets in the cabinets.
